Congo living with mystery snails?

Post by Srkoe »

There are 3 Mystery Snails living in my old SAP tank that will soon house one of my GSP's. I have 3 tanks I can move them to...
...5 gallon Cherry Shrimp tank
...1.5 gallon snail breeding tank
...what will soon be P-Nuts(Congo) tank

I would rather not put them in my breeder tanks (1.5 & 5 gallon). Has anyone tried keeping mystery snails with a Congo? She pays not attention to the ramshorns I dropped in there.

It certainly would'nt hurt to try. best case scenario the snails live, worst case scenario: they become lunch. but being that they are not expensive it wouldnt hurt to just try it. every congo will act differently and no two are exactly the same

Believe it not, my Congo never touched snails. As a matter of fact, a giant apple snail was her only tank mate for many months before it died.

It is sad...we really love our snails. Our oldest, Gary won't even come all the way out of his shell now. I have yet to be able to see his damage. The guppy's pick on them too, nipping at their antenna. Should I put melafix in the water to help them heal? They are now in my feeder guppy tank...would the Melafix be okay for the fry and is it okay to feed p-nut the guppy's if they are from the tank with melafix in it?
