Not home to feed my fish
How long can 1.5" GSP's go without eating..I fed them some tilapia at about 6 am Wednesday morning..I won't be home until Sunday, maybe Saturday if we're lucky, my wife just gave birth to our daughter Thursday morning..it was a c section so they're keeping her a little longer..anyways I just want to make sure they will be ok...

not certain about the time frame either but talapia is good for them especially is they are eating mostly shrimp.

Re: Not home to feed my fish
I thought you were not suppose to feed fish to puffers...I'm confused, thought it caused a fatty liver or something? So, it's safe to give my puffs a little fish when we have fish? Geez....that sounds so horrible....lol!

Re: Not home to feed my fish
shrimp & some mollusks contains high levels of thiaminase which apparently blocks vit B1 absorption. Tilapia does not contain thiaminase giving the metabolism a rest.

Re: Not home to feed my fish
it is not that they can't eat fish, it is the kind of fish that they are eating.

Re: Not home to feed my fish
i thought about it..i don't want them to put too much food in the tank...
Re: Not home to feed my fish
I.Puff.Too you have them moved over from the 10 g to the 55 g right? If not I would be more worried about them in the 10g without the daily water changes for that long than without eating.

Re: Not home to feed my fish
trek...uhm..i didn't move them yet..i know..but i will do it on Sunday, and since I've said I would do it without doing it already, I will post pics to prove it
Re: Not home to feed my fish
I can now understand that you wouldn't want a friend to go in to feed as overfeeding in that small of tank with 3 of them could go bad very quickly. I wouldn't worry about them not eating for a few days puffers can go long period of time without food. Please do get them moved ASAP.I.Puff.Too wrote:trek...uhm..i didn't move them yet..i know..but i will do it on Sunday, and since I've said I would do it without doing it already, I will post pics to prove it
