Very cute! One of my 1st puffers--Takifugu niphobles. The stripes will come & go, according to his mood. He'll like to burrow in the sand. Will need to be brought into marine conditions as it matures. How big is he?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
It's around 3" right now.. and quite friendly with 3 Mollies that I put in the tank a while ago to test out the tank..
Until the fish settle down in a month, I will slowly convert to BW ..
You are right.. I thought I lost my fish and chomp by my 3 mollies this morning when I can't find him at all, then I noticed 2 blinking eyes on top of the sand and the rest of the body inside the sand..
He just went to bed after swim around the bubble and play with the wave for the whole morning and hiding himself in the sand right now.. only the eyes Pop out from the sand.. quite cute... my GSP used to do that hiding under the sand

I seldom see my puffer swim around.. for the last day or 2...he always hiding under the sand.. He might be coming out and swim around when I am not around at work..when I get home..he is always under the sand but do move around from location to location...
I just noticed.. my fish very very shy.. I have to turn off the light in my room..then wait for a while..the I can see him pop out from the sand and looking for food.. and sometime he just swim too fast and hit the glass on the tank and resting again..
My poor shy fish... I turn down the heat on my tank.. might be also too hot and try to cool down on the sand.. I set it to 82F..now turn it to 76F on the heater so let the tank cool down slowly..when I thought about it..this fish consider a full marine fish... those fish normally should like cooler water... like right now the density on the water is around 1.002.. slowly convert to BW..
