Sump Questions
I just picked up a new to me 210 7x2x2 and want to use it for freshwater with a 75gal sump. Can someone explain to me how the freshwater sump works? This drilled tank stuff is all new to me.

In FW, sumps are most often used to house larger volumes of filter materials than can be housed in HOB or canisters.
This generally involved building baffles in the sump to segregate the various filter media while ensuring good flow through all media. There should be lots of diagrams and photos of DIY sump setups on the web.
They also can house equipment which you consider unsightly or hazardous in the display tank. Heaters are one example, often placed in the sump rather than the display.
Sumps are also used as refugia, such as locations to grow plants in cases where the display fish would eat or tear up plants in the display tank. These also should be pictured and discussed on the web.
Sumps also increase the total working volume of the tank system such that more livestock can be accommodated without compromising water quality.
It all depends on what you want to do with the tank.
