Instant Ocean salt? dissolving issue
I have noticed my Instant Ocean salt never dissolves entirely. Any one know a better brand?

Do you use a powerhead in your mixing container? I use IO and I've never had an issue.
I've never used any other salt but I know quite a few people that use Tropic Marin Pro

I do not have a powerhead for salt mixing due to a lack of funds.

There's your answer. Also, it's meant to mix in warm water.

You can spend more money on other salts but without a powerhead for mixing you will likely get the same result.
I picked up my powerhead for $10 (used)

Hot water isn't the answer either. Use tank temperature water with a power head and it will dissolve nicely.

Red Sea Coral Pro salt dissolves completely in RO water with only an aereator. This is Coral Pro, though, their regular salt doesn't dissolve all the way no matter what you do to it.

I think I'll stick with Instant Ocean. I have had good luck with its performance in tank.

Re: Instant Ocean salt? dissolving issue
Ok, this post is going to "out" me for being a fishkeeping noob, but . . . my salt wasn't dissolving either, even after I added a powerhead and heater. There would always been a teeny bit left in the bottom which caused me great concern. One weekend during WCs my sister happened to be over. She said . . . "are you sure it isn't just sand in the bottom of the tub? I mean, it is a white tub." I'd siphon off tank water into the tub, then use the powerhead to dump the water in the sink, never noticing that little bits of sand were left in the bottom because my plastic tub was white. Sigh . . . but I'm mentioning because I couldn't figure out what was wrong and somehow never thought of that.

Re: Instant Ocean salt? dissolving issue
There is no way sand could have gotten in the tank I mix my water in.

Re: Instant Ocean salt? dissolving issue
You don't need a powerhead...
I use one in my reef tank mix bin (Marine Pro salt mix), but my Ceylon's water (Instant Ocean salt mix) is mixed with an HOB filter and airstone in/on a rubbermaid container. It works great. Do as PP said and warm the water before adding the salt. Should dissolve completely within an hour.
