Swordtails BW to FW?

I have a swordtails with my GSP. I need to bring him to Fresh water and put him in a freshwater tank before the salt content is to much. What should I do?

Same as going the other way.....Put him in a 5 gal pail with 1 gal of BW and do a slow drip from the FW tank over 5 or 6 hours until the salinity comes down close to FW

If the pail fills up and it's still above 1.003-1.005 then remove some water and continue until the level of salt drops sufficiently

For the drip, I like to use airline tubing with a clip on it to control flow. You can also tie a loose knot in the tubing to control flow if you don't have a clip.

I thought swords could go full salt or is it just high end bw

Swords, mollies and guppies all can adjust their osmoregulation to adapt to salt in their water.

I believe swords stay on the low end of brackish, guppies can go as far as mid to high brackish and mollies can go full SW. That is what is recommended anyways.

However, I have a 4 year old Fancy guppy that has been in my SW tank since it was low BW and it has adapted very well to the increase in salinity right up to 1.025. He also managed to dodge the eels that wanted him for lunch. I don`t name all of my fish (I have too many) but I figured for surviving he would get a name, Ruiz. (He looks kinda Mexican) He is now best of friends with my 2 Ocellaris clowns, Sid n` Nancy
