plants for dwarf puffer tank
I am planning on setting up a ten gallon dwarf puffer tank. I know what to feed it what water parameters are needed and what temperature I need to keep it at. However, I am confused as to what decor they need. What plants are safe with them? Do they need bogwood? What other fish could I keep with them? I know they are fin nippers and are aggressive but one book I read said that they can be kept with fast rasboras or danios. I was planning on adding plants like hornwort or java fern. Would these be good choices?

They seem to love spawning in Java moss.

What ever plants you get will be determined by your lights.
If you just have your basic single T8 aquarium light....then you are best sticking with Java moss and/or Java fern. Both can be easily attached to driftwood or rocks and both will do o.k. in low light. You can look into plant specific bulbs(6700-10,000K) from the LFS that will help a little.
If you have better lighting (dual T5) you can have pretty much any plants you like.

Currently in mine, I have:
Java moss,
Giant Micro Sword,
and a spider plant (house plant).
All are doing well with only room lights. I don't have any tank lights or CO2 on this unit.

Re: plants for dwarf puffer tank
I almost bought some Java moss for them yesterday but it gets caught in the filter screens & I already have a nice plant in there.

Re: plants for dwarf puffer tank
I know that but I just use liquid fertilizer like Flourish. Or do I still need the root tabs?

Liquid for the leaves, tabs for the roots. I prefer: http://www.yamatogreen.com.
