Transporting Filter Media

Post by eieio »

i'll be moving to a different state soon, and am making arrangements well in advance to move my tanks & fish with me
the library article "Moving and Transporting your Livestock and Tanks" has been very helpful
does anyone have any experience or guidelines in regard to how long filter media can be expected to remain viable?
my plan was to transport the media in the water-filled Fluval Canister filters at approximately 75-80 degrees for about 10-12 hours
the sand/gravel will be transported wet
would it be best to remove the foam filter pads and/or filter fluff, or leave everything in the canister?
Thanks! :)

As long as it stays wet, you should be fine.
