72gal bow front puffer tank build thread.

Post by ballyhoo »

Hi!
I have an empty 72gal bowfront in storage and have decided to make it a puffer tank!
Image
It will be filtered by a Magnum350 canister filter with a sponge over the intake, a Jager heater ( can't remember the wattage ). It will have sand substrate, most likely black sand, and a large piece of driftwood. I hope to have it heavily planted with low light plants.
Everything in this picture, minus the oscar and the substrate plus plants, are going to be part of the new tank :)

can't wait!

Sweet!

What kind of puffer?

It is too small for the larger puffers (Fahaka). And it is too big for the medium puffers that need to be singletons (Arrowhead, Turdigus).

What are you thinking? A couple of BW F8s, 2 GSPs, or a DP colony?

Dwarf Puffer colony for sure :)
I have 2 in a 10gal with 2 Bumblebee Gobies, they've been there for about 8 months now and are doing very well. I'm sure they would appreciate the upgrade. I don't know if I'll add any other fish, top level if anything. Probably not though, I'd like to have more fish but I'm not sure how the puffers would handle them.

DPs have been known to take "rides" on full-grown adult SDs.
