I am going to be getting a figure eight puffer soon so I am getting the tank ready. So for the decorations can I put some coral in there.

Well maybe fossilized coral. Not live stuff. But thats probably what you meant.

Coral will die in a brackish water setup

So thats probably fossilized. I don't know if I'd put that in fresh water.

I have some fossilized coral in some of my BW and FW tanks and it does just fine (had it for a year).
However, it can be a PITA to keep clean!

I guess it would be fine in fresh water, at least I don't see why not. I actually have some in my brackish setup so I know thats fine.

It should be fine but will need to be bleached occasionally.

Does Stresscoat dechlorinate?

Then I think it should be fine though you can't rinse it too much
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Re: Can I put coral in a figure eight puffer aquarium?
Coral skeletons will increase the GH and KH of FW. The amount will depend on the mass and surface area of the coral used and the minera profile of the FW. It is not "fine" if you mean "inert" by that, it will dissolve slowly. To me, FW ornaments should be inert and have no effect on the water profile.
It should be no problem in BW, as any hardening there will serve a similar function to the calacareous substrates we use there (aragonite or crushed coral).
Coral is very porous. After beaching it should be soaked for days at least to be really safe. It is more trouble that it is worth IMHO. If I wanted the "look", I would use fakes.
