A few questions

Ive been thinking about setting up a brackish aquarium for a F8 as well as my fresh water tank for dwarf puffers.

I was wondering does one need a special filter? Id be purchasing the same tank for the F8, a 15 gallon, it comes with a PF filter, I cant find specifics, due to throwing the box out.

light BW shares the same beneficial bacteria as FW tanks do.

So the salt wouldnt affect anything or do damage to the filter? Would it need to be a stupidly high output filter?

no because you're not adding that much salt to the tank. The filter you choose depends on the size of the tank itself.

You do want to over filter slightly because they are messy eaters but you don't want something that will shoot the poor little guys across the tank either.

What you will need that cost a little $$ are some good quality test kits and a refractometer.

Another question Although probably not the right section for it, is, in a fresh water tank you can put oto's and such to clean algae and eat any uneaten bloodworm or such in the tank, How does this go with brackish water tanks, I mean are there certain brackish cleaning fish I should put in?

there are.. but I don't know the answer to that one.

I don't know what will and what will not get along with F8s. I am sure someone here will come along and chime in on that one.

In a 15g, all you can fit is a single F8.

Not too many 'cleaner' fish that will work in BW.

I'd suggest a 20 gal for the F8 if you can...

If you upgrade to a 20-long, you can keep a pair of bumblebee gobies with the F-8. They make good clean-up crews for the F-8. You will still need to be very conscientious about water patials and filter upkeep.

After thinking about it, until I have more space for a bigger second tank, I'll just stick with the dwarfs and get some experience keeping puffers. Thanks for the info guys and girls

yah looking back I think I'd would of been better off with a smaller puffer to start with, but I don't regret getting my GSP cause he's so cute. Still I agree with Pufferpunk.
