frozen shrimp as GSP food
If I buy a bag of frozen uncooked shrimp sold as food for people would this work as a food source for my GSP.

Just make sure the uncooked shrimp doesn't have preservatives or flavoring, and it's not the only thing he eats. (Which I'm sure you wouldn't just feed him shrimp)

Yes, I use this food a lot. Leave the shell on. Defrost in vitamin water.

They sell liquid fish vits at your LFS. Krill is OK occasionally but your puffer needs a varied diet.

Yah I figure If I use a combination of different foods it will be better than just a couple. some frozen, freeze dried, live snail/crusteations, and occasionally live insects/worms.

Re: frozen shrimp as GSP food
Both my GSP's are big fans of frozen shrimp. I thaw in tank water until no longer frozen and then toss it in. They also love mussels. My local WalMart sells a bag of mussels in the frozen seafood section, raw and in their shells, for approx $4. My GSP's loooove the mussels, too. Very easy and affordable to feed them, IMO. I do it the same way I feed shrimp (just de-thaw in tank water)

So I fed my puffer the freeze dried krill and freeze dried baby shrimp and he got very excited. I plan on getting some frozen shrimps and such next opportunity I get.

FD foods are a nice, easy snack to toss in when in a pinch for time. I use the plankton often.
