Reverse Osmosis Units & Waste Water
I am looking into getting one of these units for use at home, rather than driving to the lfs each time I need water. I appreciate that they vary, but in general I understand that for each gallon produced, there is 3 gallons of waste water? Does anyone use one at home & have experience of them? Trying to work out the most cost effective way of doing water changes!

Some folks use it to fill their washing machine. Is water that $$$ by you?

Our water is not unusually high, bu I already pay penalty rates due to excess water usage. I gave up RODI some time back.

Whilst mains water here is not cheap, I just didn't like the idea of so much going to waste.
RTR, what do you use if you don't use RODI anymore?

Re: Reverse Osmosis Units & Waste Water
I just purchased a new one myself and have the same question. I don't like just running it down the drain like the last setup was. I think I am going to plumb it to the back yard to watering grass and plants.

Re: Reverse Osmosis Units & Waste Water
For the system I got (Osmotics 75G/day), it would seem that you can buy another part to add on, that returns the waste water back through another membrane for another cleansing. This reduces the waste water by 50%. They call it an upgrade system.Dadof4 wrote:I just purchased a new one myself and have the same question. Yup, I have only FW these days. I have gotten lazy in my old age.
I don't even have any of the big tanks running anymore.
