baby mbu puffer food

helo puffer keeper,
maybe the subject not always mbu ...
now i have mbu 5cm long.

i have browse many web to know what should i give to baby mbu.
when the perfect time to give her hard food?
because i try to give her small apple snails she cant eat ... to big
i try to give her cryfish (1" long ) only first time she try to eat them but now the cryfish be a friend with vivi my mbu :shock:

she always want to eat,the main food is still scallop ... i buy at supermarket only give her scallop meat.

but i worry about her teet, what time i should give treatment with her teeth, and what is the best to give food for my baby.

i think maybe she to small to eat hard shell ...

maybe someone can help me.

you can leave the meat in the shell and crack it open :)

She will scrape her teeth on the inside of the shell to get the meat out if you leave it in the shell but crack it open. Also, try uncooked shrimp tails, krill, plankton, small crabs. In addition, if you crush the snails, she will still hit her teeth on the broken shell pieces.

At 5 cm, your Mbu is still very young, so I wouldn't worry too much about tooth wear yet. Scallop is fine as part of the diet, but try offering small pond/bladder snails, tiny mussels, or shelled shrimp as she grows. The key is to introduce crunchy foods gradually once she can comfortably crush them. If she's ignoring the crayfish, they're probably too large or intimidating for her size. Just keep providing a varied diet and monitor her beak growth. Most young Mbus don't need any tooth trimming if they're regularly eating hard foods as they mature.
