MarineLand Stealth/Pro heater recalls

Post by FADE2BLACK_1973 »

Marine has a recall on all Stealth and Stealth Pro heater's. Here's what I found from another forum.

I bought a 200 from petsmart last April and I will be returning it just in case. I found this letter and I'm going to print it with the receipt and see how they handle things. http://petsmart-mail.com/P/v3/Microsite ... ONL&A=1007

Good luck.

We have one of the potential problem ones and so far the stores aren't doing anything.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

I just swapped mine out at petsmart, it was a hassle-free transaction. I dreamed that mine malfunctioned and the tank water was literally boiling, like a high rolling boil.
I got a bunch of free older stealth heaters, only one out of 3 worked. Fortunately my stealth pro did not boil my Pig Pig and I was able to return it.

Flutter, Call Marineland direct.

I called them back in November and they told me the problems were only on the 250, 300, 350w heaters with a lot number of G or H. He also said something about "31" in the lot number being the bad year code. My heater didn't apply then because it was a 200w and had a different lot #.

As soon as I heard of these problems I move my heater to a mixing vessel. Either way I'm going to return it because I don't want any potental problems.

I have always wondered if some people affected by the exploding heaters are using the "safety" shutoff instead of properly unplugging their heaters during water changes. I've talked to 2 or 3 people in another forum that had a catastrophic failure and they said they unplugged the units and did not rely on the safety shutoff...But who knows.

Good luck

My Stealth pro did not have those lot numbers either, back in Nov. But now im hearing it's all thier Stealth's and Stealth Pro's being recalled. They are discontinueing the Stealth's but not the Stealth Pro's. Btw, I bought mine at PetSmart too so i will be taking it back and use a back up until I get back home with the new heater. Might try one of those Rena SmartHeater's from PetSmart for the exchange heater's.
