Super market food for Fahaka.
Ok I bought my Fahaka a frozen bag of raw shrimp in the shell and a bag of Mussels in the whole shell from Wal-Mart yesterday. Well I only found a bag of shrimp tails in the shell that is raw but has salt as a preservative. Now the salt gets me because that seems to be all that I can find, is all frozen raw seafoods using salt as a preservative? I have already fed one piece of the shrimp to my fahaka and he ate just about all of it but had to remove the rest after he got his fill. Btw, bought a frozen bag of mussels but after I had already bought it, found out it was cooked mussels instead of raw but nothing added other then salt as a preservative. Wondering if that was safe to feed him. This will be the very 1st time that I have ever bought frozen seafood for any fish that I have ever owned. Fed mainly the frozen food for fish shops over the years.

Re: Super market food for Fahaka.
i think cooked foods arent meant to be fed to puffers
and not if salt is added as well.
the frozen food i buy is raw, and comes just with an ice glaze?
but has no preservatives etc on it
it can be hard to find food, i found local fish markets etc to be better than the shops in the UK.

Well the cooked mussels will get threw away because no one will eat them around here and the part of the States that im from, it will be extremely hard to find pure raw frozen seafood that has not salt in it somehow. Might have to go and order raw frozen mussels from Drs Foster and Smith. Most of the super markets around here has stopped carring pure raw seafood or are out of business. Just will have to pay alot more for my frozen raw foods

Since you're from Kentucky do you have a Kroger close by? Best place to find raw seafood.

You've been looking in the large chain grocery stores? I find great deals on shrimp at Sam's Club/Costco.

Look for the bulk frozen bags of shrimp and crab legs. No preservatives or salt.

Re: Super market food for Fahaka.
Just found and bought a frozen bag of raw unshelled oyster's without any perservatives or salt added at Wal-Mart. I did not see them the last time I was there but they had them and I made sure they was raw and without perservatives. Thawed out a piece and fed it to my fahaka and he loved it. Well that is added to his diet of krill, live night crawlers, live red clawed crabs, and now raw oysters. Still looking for raw frozen mussels in the whole shell and market shrimp in shell without perservatives. I might get lucky soon
