What are you all using for your brackish tanks? I had a 5 gallon cheapo Wally World special and the salt killed it in about 4 months. Most of the self contained "Reef" units of any size are expensive and I'd hate to drop the money if there is a better alternative. I already have too many tanks according to the wife so it may be a moot point... but I don't think anything I have that I could rearrange would hold up.

I have a couple of brackish nano (3 gal - 11 ltr) tanks with some very small shrimp in them. They work ok as they are meant for saltwater (or claim to be).

She'll be a tad bit tense and cranky if I come home with anything else.

My 20 gallon reef is a standard rimmed tank... My 55 brackish Ceylon tank is thicker, but that's the only difference...

Just a normal tank from Petsmart. It was on clearance
Didn't plan on another tank or fish but we made an impulse purchase and have never looked back. I think it's our favourite tank, definitely favourite fish.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

I only use glass aquaria, I don't like plastic tanks. (Personal choice item).

How about wood tanks RTR? My 150 (Fahaka home) is made from plywood... I love it for a few reasons...RTR wrote:I only use glass aquaria, I don't like plastic tanks. (Personal choice item).
1 - They hold heat better ( I live in frigid Winnipeg Manitoba)
2 - Only one pane of glass to change if it ever gets a bad scratch
3 - Their weight - My roommate and I carried it downstairs just the 2 of us.
Now I'm not saying they're the best, I'm sure it has its negatives as well. My other 6 tanks are glass.
