after taking advice from here im at a loss
i posted about a week ago about what FW puffer i would be best to keep.
I really like the Tetraodon miurus, and have done research on them and think i could keep one just fine, my only problem is i cant find any.
I live in idaho witch is quite aways from any coastal areas.
Ive checked ever LFS i could find in town and ever 1-2 hours away no one carries anything except SW puffers and BW(GSPs) puffers.
Any ways only way i could possible get one is to order one online and have it shipped to me.
Ive emailed: http://www.thatpetplace.com and they responded that they do\did have one, it was the brown veriety, i would really like a red but i guess i cant be to picky.
My main question is has anyone every ordered a puffer or fish for that matter via online, does it work? is it healthy for the fish?
anything i should be aware of that i might not know?
Or any suggestions on alterante routes to get the puffer i want?
Any sites some one might advise be better to order from?
if i do order online, i will be able to have a day off on work days to be home for the shipment, just still a little worried.
Or possibly a LFS that might ship just the right puffer that i want?
I know a lot of questions, but i would really appreaciate it.
P.S. not totally sure this is the right place for the post.

Ordering online really is a personal choice. I, however would not do it but there are plenty of people who do and have had success.
My opinion is that when you buy a fish and especially a specialist fish such as a puffer, I want to see it swimming and feeding.
The majority of puffers do not travel well and I have the opinion of wanting to see exactly what I am paying for.
The next best option is to see if the LFS could order them in for you.
However I have done this 3 times now with no success. The first two times both lfs ordered a puffer in for me and both times a different species came. The third I ordered a red miurus and when it came it was a light brown. All three times I kept my money and walked away however I would have had a lot of problems if I had bought on line.

Some call it a product of a mis-spent youth, I call it Rock n Roll !
where in Idaho are you?
If you're south and want to take a day trip, Zamzow's on Federal Way in Boise, used to carry a fair selection. The guy Kim was pretty knowledgeable and willing to do special orders every so often. I don't know if he is still there or not though.
Pets are People Too, in Moscow, has carried some other puffers in the past but I don't know if they knew what they had or if they could get any thing in.
Like I said, I don't know how they will be, but it might be worth a call.

I waited for a nice bright T miurus for 5 years. Finally found one on Aquabid. I won it from this guy: oluwatoyinojo@yahoo.com
Also check with: mrfishyfishy@aol.com
She was only 1" when I got her--I think around $50. She arrived healthy & I would order from that guy again.
Here she is now:

Our T miurus is called Spud tooFeathers&Fins wrote:I second the vote for fishyfishy. They are great to deal with. They send healthy specimens properly packaged. That is where I got my large red T.miurus, Spud. I'm very happy with them.
