What to feed my figure 8
I currently feed my figure 8 gut loaded snails, tilapia, little dried brine shrimp (pre-soaked and not to fond of these), and an occasional green pea, and that's it. I feel he should be getting more variety. I've tried tubifex and blood worms but he wasn't interested. Is his current diet ok or shoud I add something else? What do yours like?

My GSPs love squid tentacles and clams, I get them at whole foods. I have some small "pest" snails in quarantine, they really like those.

Avoid canned food, go for fresh raw or frozen raw..just find a local seafood market..
Here is a feeding article - library/feeding/feeding-your-puffers/
Here is a video of GSPs eating a mussel, this is the same manner you would feed a clam, for a small puff-

I don't eat meat either, lol. I get these items at the super market, do you have a Whole Foods where you live? I'm pretty sure most super markets will have that stuff though. But yeah, definitely not canned. They help keep their teeth in check when they scrape the meat off of bivalve shells.

I just picked up two mussels at Publix for 22 cents. I hope they like them!

Thanks for the video! My guy would love that!
We don't have whole foods as I live in a very small town. I would think they might have mussels or clams though. I'll look next time I go. Another dumb question, do you just put the mussel or clam in? I'm told they come closed do I pry it open some how???
Thanks everyone for the great ideas!

It's actually best to freeze them overnight to kill off any nasties & then defrost in luke warm vitamin water.

Any good aquarium store should carry liquid fish vits.
