T. Miurus red variant!

Post by RichardGlen »

So i have heard quite a few different oppinions on whether or not a red variant is the only congo puffer that will get red. Tons of people have told me certain things to try to get the brown variants to turn a more bright red.
-add a red clay flower pot to the tank
-gut load ghost shrimp with red crustaceons(idk what kind)
-red substrate
From what i have been hearing the brown variants will not turn red. Ive been experimenting with a brown congo in my store and the red substrate and a red piece of slate have had no success what so ever. This could also be cuz hes stressed out in a holding tank.
So let me know what you think!

I think substrate color and tricks like that could bring out nice hues, but only if the puff was already pinkish/redish/orangish..but even then you won't get that prized RED...at least not one as red as Pufferpunk's avatar...you will see it soon!!

To keep her as red as the day I got her, i used 75% black sand & 25% red gravel mixed into the substrate.
