ph levels for a fahak puffer

hi all im new to this site but not new to this puffer but i have moved from my previous home and the water here is much different from my old and my ph out of the tap is off the charts so i was wondering what the max stabile ph for this puffer is(knowing that 7.0 is optimal)

Have my fahaka in a temporary tank with a ph of 8.2. He seems to do just fine but had to slowly adjust him when I 1st brought him home from the shop.

Mine does fine at 7.8, as with most fish as long as it dont fluctuate too much he should be fine.

The African riverine puffers tend to be highly adaptable on water parameters. Their native water tends to very wide ranges through the year due to the pronounced wet and dry seasons.

Temperature and/or TDS changes may well be spawning triggers in the wild, but in captivity it appears that stability is significant in long life and health. Because of that, so long as your tap water has sufficient KH to be stable between partials, the tap water - properly treated to remove or detoxify whatever disinfectant is used - is likely to be suitable for most of these puffers.

Very few FW fish require water modification for maintenance in captivity.
