I had to tell you guys as we are finally getting married and think I have come up with an awesome idea! We have been together 8 years this coming March and hopefully looking to get married in a years time. We have been through a lot together and to be honest just want a nice relaxing day and to spend most of it on the honeymoon (somewhere hot gorgeous where we can dive as I have never been and dearly want to). So here is the plan:
To have a registry in the local Council Chambers which can be fitted up for the day and then for the reception afterwards to book the local OCeanarium out (means I get to be with puffers on the big day lol). We've been thinking about big venues etc but my heart just was not in it and this idea really appeals to me
With this in mind thinking of basing the colour and themes of the underwater nature and light sea greens and blues hues etc....Any ideas for favours etc?? Im pretty crafty and eager to place my mark for the day so any ideas you guys have will be welcome (as my puffer mad friends!) x
Oh, that sounds like a really pretty wedding! Just don't do like some stupid people do and use live fish as centerpieces and then offer them to random guests as favors afterwards. Oh, and don't release doves - they'll die - if you like that tradition, use specially-trained white homing pigeons! Favors... What about little bags of Swedish fish and personalized M&Ms? Fish-shaped bubbles? Aquatic-themed cups that they drink from at the reception and take home as a favor? If you have activities for kids, they could do aquatic-themed crafts. Also, someone else posted these a while back... http://www.shopatron.com/products/produ ... .74335.0.0
Congratulations!
Hey, I just now noticed that your puffer is named Calcifer. My sister's snake (now sent to a wildlife education program) was named Calcifer, from "Howl's Moving Castle." I picked the name.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Thanks so much guys One question I have neither of us have been to a wedding and we googled the etiquettes but I think we are going completely unusual in sense of tradition...would it be too weird to have a registry that 60 people can go to (whole thing 2 hours) and then straight to said oceanarium for about 4 hours entertainment? We hadnt thought about a proper main reception and wonder if it would be too weird without???
Thanks a lot again (aw J-P how did you know lol )
Thank you for that link to the cakes those are truly amazing and exactly what I had in mind!!! And there are awesome ideas on the other link to (big huugs)

It's your wedding--do whatever you like. I'm sure there are hundreds of sites on how to throw a wedding. We had 2. One was a bit more traditional, with only 2 friends (& their dates) each, family I hadn't seen in 20 years (I never would have bothered inviting) & our families. We got married under a gazebo at my parents' property by a Rabbi & a Priest & had a dinner at a nearby restaurant. There were about 25 there. My parents paid for that. I wore a long white dress I had bought at a bridal store for $200.
The GOOD wedding was the next day, outside at a forest preserve with about 250 bikers. Word got around at the local biker taverns that there was a wedding at the woods, so lots of strangers showed up. We had a live band under a huge tent barreled beer & catered food. Near the end of the party the bikes were lined up, someone gave me a bouquet, we walked down the isle & the president of the club (a mail-order reverend) sad a bunch of goofy stuff about us & we were married again. I wore a white leather dress.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

And a great actor - Billy Crystal! Cal is doing well. He was in a neglect situation with my sister, and after a year of really hard work, I finally sent him to a rehabber/rescuer/educator, and she says his personality is perfect. They'd gotten a California King like him, but it turned out to be vicious and totally unsafe for kids, but Cal is very sweet and docile and loves being handled... Like the character is underneath all that huffing and puffing!
