Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

Ich Guard 2 by Jungle for puffer with ich?
I was wondering if it would be safe to use Ich Guard 2 by Jungle for my Fahaka puffer. I noticed a little bit of ich on my fahaka and was wondering if this med would be safe on him since I had used it on many scaleless fishes over the years in freshwater tanks with great success. But never used it on any freshwater puffers in tha past. I have used the salt treatment on DP's but with no success. So wanted to try this med cause I know it would work but not sure about how it would be on my 6" fahaka. Btw, Kordon makes a ich med too for treating scaleless fishes but never used it before. Rather use a safe ich med, WC's, raising temp, and turning lights off rather then that salt treatment.

I would avoid the medicine and opt for temperature changes-

+1, especially for such a mild case.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Oh believe me, I think that I have read just about everything on this site. Im always reseaching on here and this is the best puffer site on here. I know that alot of members don't like using meds with puffers. But if it becomes a have to case then I thought about using Ich Gaurd 2 before it gets bad if even does. I hope not though. Just mainly a last resort if needed. But I am going to try the WC's and raising temp 1st before I take further action. I had lost sooo many prized fishes from super ich and trying to avoid it from ever taking out everything again.

I've had luck with the salt and heat treatment every time except for the last time my two new SAPs got Ich. If it's mild I would def. hold off on using meds.

Since FW Ich is a gill disease, I am curious in just how you define a "mild" case? The presence of parasites on the fish's skin indicates that the gills are loaded.
I have never had to use commercial meds in FW Ich. If you use ordinary salt properly, it works just fine.

Well it still looks fine on my fahaka's body. Meaning, still mild on the body. Raised the temp and keeping the lights off for acouple of days. Might add some Seachem Garlic Guard to his food to help. Just trying to keep everything under control. No further action taking yet. Just keeping a good eye out.
RTR, I meant body wise.
