Florida Activities - Naples/Fort Myers Area
What types of activities would you guys suggest?
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

The water is frigid. About 55F with the right wind.

Not really sure....Tampa has the Florida Aquarium. Its not far north of you

Take a ride south and go out on I-75 and watch the wildlife or catch Hwy 90 south in to the Big Cypress National Park. Beautiful stuff.
I also vote for skinny dipping, yeah it's cold but you can combat that by taking a friend!

Do the Tammiami trail. Supposed to be a really cool drive, but i dont know about middle of winter

We used to love Fort Myer's Beach - we booked into a waterfront low rise with largish balconies every spring - watched the dolphins go by regularly - but it has gotten too densely developed for us. Now it is Sanibel if we go there at all.

That's where we're going tomorrow! I'm really hoping to see dolphins. I'd love to swim with them one day.

Roatan Honduras has a dolphin encounter, where you can interact in or under the water (scuba).

Early AM on Sanibel is the best time for shelling in our experience.
The dolphins along Ft. Myers Beach go north AM an south PM. Very early twilight in the evenings, after full dawn in the AM. There was a sand bar near offshore out from the motel, and the Dolphins came in close through the shallow channel between the sandbar and the shore, so it was a wonderful site for viewing. I doubt that the location bottom is quite the same now - those things move routinely.

I loved Sanibel. Definitely going to do our best to get back there before heading home.
