Split topic: Mbu fry

They were not purchased nor given to me.
Some had the assumption that it was purchased.
I am officially stating that it was not purchased.

It doesn't matter how they arrive.
If i were to claim that i found them in my pond no one would believe it.
If i were to claim that my MBU spawn in the pond AND NOT THE one in my house (ofcourse there's only 1 18"mbu at me place) , no one would believe it either.

All my current fishes that you see in my status column are the ones that is in my house and not in my farm.

So therefore let it be known that i am not making any claims whatsoever as to how they 12 mbu fry arrived.
I do not want my shoulders to be anymore heavier than it already is.
Owning a farm and caring for the mbu fry is very time consuming and very rewarding at the same time.
So therefore i do not have the time to log in here everyday to reply to haters and people who who can't contribute to my current journey with my 12 fry.

So please, if you have any suggestion or things you would like to contribute to their lovely survival and NOT CRITICIZE please feel free to do so.

My experience and knowledge with these lovable 12 T.Mbu will be continued in my original "scrapbook" that i started out with.

Till it reach a certain size, or when i feel that they need a change of enclosure or whichever circumstance comes first, they will be transfer to another location.

I am making another ext, 1250 Liters pond for them or for any of my collection that needs that space.

AWWW!!!

They are so surreal looking..looks like a MBU daycare LOL

How big are they in these picks?

This pics were taken yesterday during feeding time.
At the time of this shoot they were,
smallest being 2cm.
biggest is at 3.2cm.

The funny thing i notice is that all of them started with the same size.

In 3weeks ++ their size can vary much differently.

They have the same diet but some just choose to grow much faster and bigger.
With this in mind i "MIGHT" have found out a way in sexing the mbu species which to my knowledge no one has been able to do it correctly. Correct me if iam wrong.

I wish that size could help us determine sex. Some species when mature get fatter when they have eggs (females)..

But as young as yours are the size difference is probably more about evolution or survival of the fittest...the one who eats the most/hunts the best survives ..in the wild, those 12 would probably end up being 2.

Just like with humans....the man that provides the best or looks the best gets the girl..so his genes carry on (survival of the fittest).

But, do watch their sizes..you never know what it may mean.

I just want to say, that me personally I was not "hating" on you, Just concerned for the fish. I do not hate you. If I had an aro in a 113 liters, you would fuss at me. Now that you have agreed that your MBUs will have bigger houses, I will back off.

They only took it out of the breeding section because you yourself did not breed them. They did not move it because what people where saying to you. If you have more knowledge of their birth they might move it back.

I totally agree with you on this too.

From what i learn with them, every starting to end of feeding time i monitor how much each of them consume in a sitting.
General rule of thumb is that all of them consume the same amount of food given to them.

I am basing only on my assumption that the ones that grew faster and larger have a high possibility of being females.

What you reckon?

StriGoi if you want people to take you seriously and not judge don't talk in circles. I breeded them, I didn't breed them, I going to keep them, I'm not going to keep them, LFS treats them wrong, Can't seem to get a straight answer from you one way or another and the way you are talking seems like you make up answers as you go along in defence. Sorry if this isn't the case but that is truely how you are coming across.

Well, if you look at most animals the females do tend to be fatter than the males Not always, but I see what you are saying.

Dwarf puffer females are generally fatter. But, in other species being the fatter one does not always mean female...

These are currently located in Singapore, you live in Ontario.

The future housing is in Singapore or Canada? This is precedent setting 1) because we've never seen that many by a private owner, 2) because I know space is at a premium in Singapore and it would be difficult to accommodate even the juveniles.
Thus, I can understand the housing in Canada, but not in Singapore, yet there, you don't need a heater

What made you pick up 12 fry and what are the plans?

And yes, you can get $150 - $200 for each of those here in North America.

In many species though males reach sexual maturity first. Without more knowledge of growth rates, age of sexual maturity, and sizes we can't really guess with any hopes of accuracy.
