Re: Split topic: Mbu fry
You are completely missing the point.
Do you have a 13,000 gallon (49,210 L) To house these fry. If not, you should not have them.

I totally agree on your above statement.purplecandle wrote:Ok, I can believe you bought or somehow acquired 12 MBU fry.
But, don't you think it is wrong to intend to keep these fry, when you cannot properly house and care for your first MBU?
My puffy (its name) it really doing fine in it current 5ft tank set up. REALLY.
For those 12 fry, i only intend to care for them till a certain size.
Those pictures that you will see this coming weekend were taken in the place i live in.
However, do trust me when i say that those 12 fry will be fine.
I really couldn't say much due to sensitive issues.
I would rather PM if u really must know.
If u relaise i was even some what reluctant to say that i have that much MBUs in the first place.
All i want to do for now is just to exprience, write a journal about the life of the MBU fry.
Because i notice that no one has taken it to task yet.
As for my love of puffers since day one, all i want to do is to contribute to the puffer community in sharing in what i learn and know from the MBUs i have.

I looked up Matheson, it's a wee bit north isn't it?
Did you live there your whole life? What language did you grow up speaking?
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Re: Split topic: Mbu fry
No your MBU is NOT ok in 187 gallon tank. You may think a 5 foot tank is big, but it is not. Your MBU will live a shortened life most likely deformed in some way and will never be able to become the majestic beast he is supposed to be. That is a travesty, it is animal abuse, and that is your fault..and for that reason you should not be allowed own another 12 MBUs, even if they are little. You stated earlier you intended to keep them...so they will get big.
No, I will not PM you because I want others who may read what you are doing to know that it is wrong, it sad, it is abuse.
Write your journal, I do not care. But if you post it, be prepared for me and others to rip it to sheds..because it is invalid and unreliable and will have no value. It will only serve as a documentation of your disregard to animal welfare.
I have seen pictures of one of your tanks. I thought it was beautiful. You probably have other nice tanks as well. So, I do not think you are a bad fish keeper all together. But, a MBU in less than 200 gallons of water IS bad fish keeping, and then owning 12 more MBUs IS is twelve times more bad fish keeping. I can understand if you had one MBU and did not know it was going to get big...But you do know and that is what is wrong here.
I would love to see pictures of MBU fry, so would others here. But, I am not going to pretend that what you are doing is a good thing. Unless you can tell us that your first MBU will be in a bigger tank and that your other 12 MBUs will be in big tanks....Hint, 200 gallons is not big.
I don't know why so many people here are being nice to you about this whole thing, but I am not going to be one of those people until you do the right thing.

I uploaded pics of my tank before? I did?
I forgot i did.
Thanks for the compliment.
Like i said due to sensitivity issue, i try not to mention certain stuff.
But to protect my interest and to what i love.....
And to clear my good name that i have in certain palaces.
Which honestly i am not sure either why i am even be bothered to clarify here.
I guess i have to declare that i have a FARM.
Yes, a farm, size of 4 standard basketball court.
Yes, i have a pond and MANY 5ft tanks.
No, i will not state the name of the farm as this is private property.
No, the farm is not for business transaction.
Yes, its for my own private collection and a place for me to go to during after office hours to get away from the freaking hectic live style of this freaking country and my freaking job.
Yes, i am a bit stressed out now that i even mention how stressful this place is.
Yes, if anyone saw my tanks which i upload before, those tanks belong in my house.
I guess i would just rather continue on my scrapbook.
Hope that clears the air now.

I am happy for your good fortune as it is impressive. I only wish that your MBU had the same good fortune.
If you have these luxuries and indulgences, why not extend them to your MBUs.
You seem to think I am concerned with you, I am not. I am concerned for your MBU's. That's it.

1,000 gallon tank. No tank mates except workers and veggie filters with daily partials water changes. That is what the experts prefer...so If I could have a MBU that is how I would keep one.
You might have put the pictures in the thread, but not in your gallery??
By the way. Have you really been to Dubai?

Re: Split topic: Mbu fry
StriGoi, Alot of the members in this group are pretty sensitive to certain topics..lol. I know when I first started talking in here, well lets just say it was like being attacked by a pack of wild dogs..lol. I can see what Purplecandle is saying though. Mbu are very large puffers that I have read (and done pretty good online research on them myself) and trying to house 1 properly is a heck of a job and a half when growing into adulthood. 12 fry would just be almost impossible to house alone in their own huge tanks unless you have very very large tanks. Thats why I mentioned a large indoor pool. I also noticed you metioned that you was going to grow them at certain size and maybe sale them or most? I hope everything works out for you and those mbu fry. Btw, what kinds of foods are you feeding them?
