I have a few questions.

If you only had one MBU, how did you end up with fry? How did spawning take place? If there was no spawning, where did you get the fry?

In March of this year your MBU was 9 inches, and now it is 18 inches. How did you encourage such a fast growth when at 9 inches most MBU's growth tapers off or plateaus (to my knowledge anyway).

How do you plan on housing these 12 MBU fry? Because to be honest a journal of how MBUs develop individual personalities is great...but the real scientific data would be better. Unless you can properly house and maintain all 12, any data you try to give would not be accurate nor have the ability to stand up to any scientific inquiry.

Have I missed something here? Does anyone know if this person is legit? Reading through his past posts I am not impressed. None of this sound exciting let alone plausible.

And even if he is legit and does have 12 MBU fry....then that is extremely sad news for me. A minimum of 12,000 gallons. Not to mention the probability of these 12 MBUs doing serious damage to each other.

I could be wrong, maybe you know this person from another forum. Maybe he is legit and has a small fortune needed to handle these MBUs...So, I will apologize in advance.

1 US gallon = 06.134 cubic feet
12,000 gallons = 73,608 cubic feet

That's a freaking lake...

my 6" x 10" x 12" tanks is rated only 0.41667 cubic feet

That is a 2.5 gal I believe.
http://mathcentral.uregina.ca/volume_calculator

Off MFK conversion tables:
12000 gallon (US) = 1604.166666667 cubic foot HUGE by Singapore standards ;) Now to find the foot print of that beast. ;)

Don't forget the original MBU...so that is 13,000 minimum...but even then...not nearly enough territory for 13 MBUs. If we went with something closer to what RTR would go for (which I agree with) ...you need 2,000 gallons per MBU..so that is 26,000 gallons...+ daily partial changes...and still not enough territory for that many MBUs

That would be me who doubts you. You can say my name. Purplecandle :)

You managed to get an magically fast growing 18 inch MBU to spawn in a 187 gallon tank. I have serious doubts.

Oh wow Mbu fry :D . You could make some good money off them plus it would help split them up if it was me. Could set-up an indoor pool for them that would be huge enough.

Like i mention, pictures will be taken during this christmas weekend.

WAIT A MIN, i think you got it mixed up, i did not say that my 18" spawn those fry.

I ONLY said that "i was tempted to state that my MBU spawn and i have now 12 frys. " So that i can have the title of the only person in the world to breed them in captivity. lol

You know what, iam busy with work and i only have time this christmas weekend to snap, upload pics here.

After that happen please try not asking me how my it grew so big to 18" or where the frys came from, thanks..

You know, even if those claims i made was false, what do i even remotely gain from all this?
The title of "The only person able to breed MBUs in captivity?"

And even if i did 'somehow" manage to have it spawn......
Who would believe me anyways. That would re-write history. lol

Ok, I can believe you bought or somehow acquired 12 MBU fry.

But, don't you think it is wrong to intend to keep these fry, when you cannot properly house and care for your first MBU?

As a matter of fact i did split 2 of em away from the rest.
I put them in a separator tank which is also in the main tank itself for 24 hours at one go.

In the pictures that will be uploaded this weekend you can see em in it.

Why i put em in only for 24 hours at end is because i found out that they are not as "happy" when they are in the community.
Obviously i know, but i have my reasons in putting them in it.

Only 3 out of the 12 frys needs this 'treatment".

Damn i should start my journal real soon rather than just writing it down on a piece of scrapbook.
