So I've switched out the substrate in the tank and here's some before and after pictures:
I really want to upgrade to a 30 gallon and start adding plants, but I'm waiting until the move this summer to make things easier. I'm thinking of replacing that large fake plant in front with a smaller version to add room. I have a few things I switch in and out to give Fwoom "new" places to explore.
My Puffers: Puffers I have kept: T lineatus T miurus A modestus T biocellatus C valentini C coranata C papuan C lorteti DPs suvattii burrfish T niphobles
My Puffers: 1x GSP (Bolla), 1x m. something. Bought as a leiurus, maybe a turgidus (Tiger), 1x c. irrubesco (Tott(a) aka Houdini) 1x c. salivator (Jack the Ripper), 1x m. cochinchinensis (Hufflepuff - R.I.P.), 2x c. lorteti (Tommy and Tigern = Calvin and Hubbes), 1x m. suvatti (Koseklumpen), 1x m. palembangensis (Dragonfly), 2x t. biocellatus (Koken and Fiken).
I actually had to pull out the impeller and clean grit off of it for it to run again! Enough of it had gotten in there that it stopped turning.
And at first I was going to do half today and half later, but even with all the commotion of doing the first half, Fwoom showed no signs of stress so I decided to do the other half.
The cloudyness took forever to settle! I put the Aragonite down at about 17:30. We went out last night and came back around 1. Stayed up til about 3:30 (gotta love the holidays) and it was still really cloudy! Woke up this morning and it was fine. So it took about 15 hours I'm guessing to clear completely. Maybe a little less.
So I have a cloud to look forward to, eh? I'm going to add some aragonite this week to my brackish tank. I won't be doing the entire tank, but part of it and I figure some is better than none.
