I tried hooking up my laptop to TV, a sharp aqous 37" via a HDMI or DVI cable, the resolution on the tv is 1366x768.
I set the laptop to 1366x768 (in ubuntu) and the TV stretches the picture so nothing on the borders is visible. I tried a variety of other resolutions and they all were cut off.
I also brought out my desktop (runing XP) and tried it out, same problem, no matter if I use HDMI or DVI, and always the borders are cut off.
Any suggestions?

Re: Laptop to HDTV (resolution not right)
I tried all the options from 800x600 to 1920x1080. Always the edges on all for sides were cut off, even when I tried 800x600 the TV stretched it. I was really looking forward to having my laptop work on my tv...J-P wrote:I assume you tried bring the resolution up / down a notch from the PC / laptop?

My laptop has HDMI outputJ-P wrote:strange and you have a TVO (TV-out) adapter?
WooHoo fixed it
So I said goodbye to ubuntu and installed vista on the laptop (to my knowledge ubuntu doesnt work with sling box or netflix...)
So apparently the latest drivers for nvidia cards has a screen size override feature. I have my laptop putting out 720p (my tv's max). Currently I have it connected via HDMI, but my TV has only 1 HDMI in, so im gonna have to use the DVI. HDMI > DVI cables are cheap... Gonna get a bluetooth keyboard and woohoo internet in the living room!
Anyone have a slingbox? I am getting one as a xmas present and am not sure what I can do with it beyond just streaming, I would assume there is some kind of DVR capability... Is wireless -g enough to get full SD resolution?
