And P.S. I have been meaning to post a pic of my puffer tank with the blue LED lights for you, but I'm such a terrible photographer that I can't get a picture. They all turn out too dark!

Melbell, your aquarium looks wonderful! I love your pic of Louie the Kuhli loach--I had two Kuhli loaches that lived 12 years (their names were Kooky and Kuhli, yeah, I was 9 when I got them
) and Kuhli loaches were the first fish I picked out for my 35 gallon when I set it up last year. They are crazy amazing fish, I have a "school" of 6 in my tank now! Do you feed Louie anything special? Since stocking out my freezer with "gourmet" meals for my puffers and starting to raise snails for them, I've become much more conscious about feeding my other fishes, and was wondering if you had any kuhli loach diet recommendations.

hey puffermichigan! Louie was my very first fish that my aunt got for me when i was about 10 years old. I joined an aquarium society with her that met every tuesday and i entered him into a contest and got an honerable mention! hehe its really crazy how lively he is and that he has lived this long. I havent really fed him anything special, he usually eats whatever i feed the other fish, but i do drop in algae pellets about once a week that he seems to nibble on. He REALLY like bloodworms though! He used to have a house that he would stay in all day and only come out at night to eat but since i have taken it out he swims around like a crazy thing! dangling from the plants, swimming in circles and looking around the bottom for food. Squirt doesnt seem to mind him although i think louie chases him sometimes
the moonlights are hard to get a picture of. When i took pictures of mine, they look SUPER bright in the pictures and it doesnt look like that in person. its hard to get a good shot.

have you thought of putting that cave back in?
My dojo did the same thing... he loved his cave.

yeah i have thought about it. i might get something smaller, because it was more like a house that took up half the tank. I do like seeing him all the time now, but he really did love hiding. I think ill pick up some kind of small hidy hole type of cave next time im at the LFS.

anyone know what i can do to restore the tank to its previous splendor, without taking it apart? the algae on the walls is dyeing as well as some of the long hair algae. but the algae on the DW is still the same. could i just get a group of otos to clean it up?

otos might clean it up, but cutting back the food/cleaning extra food up, and cutting back the light to kill the algae. Then just cleaning it with your hands when you vacuum
