oooooo! I thought about Lasik before, but the whole anything-touching-my-eye thing really scares me too. I saw something on TV where someone was getting surgery on their eye, and my grandmother once told me how they repaired her cornea or something... Freak me out! Nope, I like my eyes. I think it scares me too much that I may lose my vision due to an 'Oops' and not get to see all the great things I see every day! (My daughter, boyfriend, friends, family, sky, trees... I could go on for days.)

my friend had it and it turned out wonderful. He can't focus as quickly as before but even with my glasses his vision was far superior.

His only comment was "I'll never forget the smell of burning human flesh". Apparently they will do one eye at a time to see if the procedure goes ok.

I am blind in one eye and thought of having it done.. but as Ohyouknow puts it.. that "opps factor" for is a little extreme. I was denied military school because of my one bad eye (but apparently they have lowered their standards since then).

I highly recommend choosing Lasik over PRK. PRK is old school.

I have investigated this for many years but with my old eyes, I'd just have to get reading glasses anyway, so why bother trading one disability for another...

Due to the shape and thickness of my cornea I cant do Lasik, thats why they said PRK. But they are going to remeasure my eye when I get there and if this one comes out better then they will do Lasik. They said that it could be measuring wrong due to dryness or a few other things, so they like to recheck before they do the procedure.
