converting puffers

while looking around, a lot of the puffers that i though would be sw are in fact fw. is there any known way of converting these fish to bw or even full marine? the species in question are the MBU palembang and congo puffers.

Please do not take this TOO wrongly but, how would you like it if somebody took YOU from your original environment being Earth with its oxygen filled atmosphere and took you to.. say, Mars and they told you that they were going to slowly kill you by trying to convert you to breathe Martian gasses instead of oxygen.

A bit extreme I know but trying to keep the most realistic environment you can for these animals, ultimately the more comfortable they are going to be, for longer and in the end keeping you happier for longer. Consider it a relationship. Make the best for your puffer that you can in every way and respect eachother.

Being freshwater is not a religion. You cannot convert a freshwater fish to brackish (a huge range of salinity) or saltwater. The circulatory system of the animal cannot handle the change.

i had to ask because i have seen some weird things happens with fish. one lfs took a gsp out of freshwater and put it into sw (sg 1.023) and it did fine. i have also seen fish live through mercury poisoning and a few other freak accidents. thanks for your response though. i had been looking for some cool looking puffers and i saw the ones in question for sale at a few places but i didn't see where it specified if they were fw or not. i just assumed(first mistake) that they were sw so i started with some bw to kinda get the hang of things knowing that eventually i could acclimate the ones i had into full blown sw. then i fopund out that they have some pretty cool puffers that are fw and was kinda dissappointed that i couldn't get them now.

...but for how long? These fish can live well into their teens.
