OMG!! 3 fish gone in 3 days!

Post by J-P »

Just lost my ugly betta today (skelator). Talk about depressing. I did a 50% WC on his bowl and suddenly he wad floating strange. I transfered him back to his original 30g home with the guppies.. 3 hours later he was dead! I can't believe how unlucky these guys have been this week.

1) tiger barb caught in a hairnet holding down javamoss
2) Ryukin .. looks like it was attacked by CAE
3) Betta .. water change .. possibly temp change / micro bubbles.
if you follow me, you avoid stepping in the crap that I just did...

This may seem silly, but my husband and I have a saying -- that things go (die) in 3's. At least that's what seems to happen at my house. I hate those stupid little sayings and hate even more when they seem to come true, but I have to admit that when I have deaths, it does seem to happen in a number of three.

Very sorry for your losses J-P. :(

That sucks man. I hope things turn around for yah. Maybe its just bad luck but I wander if the season change could have effected your source water chemistry?

I checked the chems of the tanks...other than Nitrates (which could be better) nothing was off.

Checked the tap water and came up triple O's

Unless, there is something that the test kits aren't testing for. I have a feeling the simple answer is the correct one. Also with the temp swings at the moment that may have the fish acting a little squirrely.

We haven't turned on our heater as of yet so it gets pretty cool here at night and warm during the day.

Hey JP,

Sorry to hear about your loss,
I have lost a few fishes before... usually the bigger the fish, the creepier the death I think.

I've accidentally boiled my old betta to death when I was doing a WC.
I hope that makes you feel better.
