So now, how often do we feed these guys? And what is the best food for a congo? And finally, should I leave the uneaten part of the cory in there? How long? Maybe take it out tonight before bed? I normally don't leave uneaten chunks of anything in there for more than around 6 hrs.
SAPs are very high energy (i.e. neurotic and pacing) and they are also high maintenance. Are you prepared to breed enough snails for them? Are you comfortable with trimming their teeth every couple of months? Make sure you do your research as these guys don't really do well in captivity.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

10 gallons won't be enough. I had a 10gal breeder tank for mine and it didn't produce nearly enough snails for them. It's better than nothing of course You'll still need to trim their teeth regularly though it isn't that hard if you're comfortable with it.

Did you already contact Tony Mistretta in Chicago? The only other thing I did was post a Wanted Ad on Aquabid, and put an "Email me When In Stock" notice at ThatPetPlace I think it was. One of the big online dealers, anyway. Some of them will email you when a certain fish is in stock - or "so they say"

reefchick, I'd say, 2x/week is plenty for a lurker. My Congo's favorite food was earthworms but she pretty much ate anything but snails, once I got her on dead foods. Great articles on that in our Library.

I've had a hard time getting library articles to come up this past week, but I'll look again. Seems like the forum is running a wee bit better this morning.
Have you ever tried frozen silversides, perhaps dangled and wiggled from forceps? I have a rather good sized bag of them in the freezer that I use to occasionally target-feed LPS. Seems like that would be right up his alley. Earthworms, we have plenty, so that's good to know. Tony said this kiddo was eating everything including bloodworms but he ignored the bw I put in the first night. Then again, he may already have snacked on panda cory.
I'm going to California tomorrow and need to leave clear and easy to follow feeding directions for the non-fish savvy DH
