10g SW tank

Ok so Im finally thinking about diving into a SW tank. Ive got an extra 10G layin around that would be perfect for this experiment. Would a HOB filter with a 105gph turn over be enough flow?

Ok as for stuff I need. HOB, sand, salt, water, liverock(10-15)lbs anything else that is needed?

don't need an HOB if you have live rock.. unless it is for just water movement

ya it will be more for water movement.

Na no fish Im just going to look at the salt particles floating around HAHA. I want to figure out the parts need fish can be figured out later.

Are you wanting corals? If so your looking for lights too. Im not speaking from experiance for the HOB in a nano but alot of people use HOBs, and instead of filter sponges they put alot of little rock rubble in it, and use it for a bio boost and chemical filtration aswell. Im sure someone else can chime in to tell yah if that will be enough flow or not. Im thinking you'll still want a little nano powerhead if your going the corals route. Good luck you; you won be disapointed. Saltwater is a joy to watch and its allways something new everyday.

na no coral right now. Just some fish and some inverts. And what ever hitchhikers on the LR

And i will take suggestions on the fish and inverts.

Yah def no BR octo. LOL Thats like saying yah lets get this cool black mamba to keep as a pet.

As far as fish Im thinking maybe a pair of firefish or purple firefish, and some scarlet and blue leg hermits with of course some snails.

You could do a mantis tank but that would be a species only tank.

a 10g is big enough for a mantis? If so I have always thought they were cool as crap. But do they do much when not eating?

what about 2 firefish, snails, hermits, and some type of shrimp?
