Puffer & FW zebra Danio in a brackish setup

so i baught this Danio to test out my new Dechlorizer that i got and it works, so insted of throwing the zebra danio into my piranha tank and get eat'n....i put it in the puffer tank...its brackish i know but the danio is still alive....u think itll live? and another question...WHY is my f8 puffer eating the Java Fern..its not actually eating it, it just takes chunks out and spits it back out....wth?

The F8 might be hunting for snails and thinking the black spots are snails and takes a chunk. Finally realizing it is just a piece of leaf and spits it out.

As for the danio...it will probably survive but that's about it. Big difference between thriving and surviving.

Take to the pet store and try and trade it for some nuisance snails..you get rid of a fish that will either die prematurely, of get its fins shredded by the F8 and a free puffer meal to boot
and the pet store gets rid of one problem, in exchange for something they can sell

How would you know if your declor wasn't working?

well then the Danio would have died...right? i didnt wanna use my dechlorizer that I just got (30 bottles from this dude that works at the company ...its called Wardley....its a 3-in-1 Water conditioner that buffers the ph to 7, neutrilized ammonia and dechlorizes the water...

yea i know its harsh to put the danio thru somthing like that...but id rather do it to the danio then to test it on my piranhas and my f8 puffer....dont u think?

Actually chlorine burns the gills. Kinda hard to tell on a small fish like that. I personally wouldn't use anything w/a buffer. You want a pH of around 8.

On an offtopic note:
Whats this deal with trading in fish you all talk about, I have asked every store around here about it (SC) and none would even take the fish back after they have been out of the bag.

Zebra danios are nice fish. Do you have another tank for him ? Hospital/Quarantine/shrimp/snail tank ? Good first fish for a child/newbie too.

Has the F8 ever tried to rest/sleep on that horizontal heater? I'd keep it vertical.

i dont have another tank for the danio...its gonna stay in the f8 tank....

and no the f8 doesnt sleep on the heater...it has a cave that it goes into to sleep or sleeps near one of the fake plants...or sometimes outside in plain view in the black substrate....

some stores will take fish (no money back to u tho), some will give u money for them...but ive never heard of a store that doesnt take fish back.......

I don't know if that was(I also don't know what NIMT is, someone care to explain? The only think I can think of is not in my tank but this is the internet afterall lol.),but if it was I must agree.

It's not really fair to keep a fish intended for freshwater in brackish. Furthermore danios need buddies since they're schooling fish, 6 or more.

I'm a bit confused...why wouldn't the dechlor work unless your buying a bad brand?

Spot(GSP), Fancy Fin Goldfish, One Danio (Sanchez, last of the tribe)
