green spotted puffers in a forty?

Post by FahakaPufferFreak »

Hi

I have a freshwater aquarium that I am going to covert into a brackish setup. The fish I am interested in is the green spotted puffer. Would I get away with keeping 2 of them in a forty with weekly 50% water changes? Is there any plants that go well in brackish, is there a good kind of setup for these puffers?

P.S- found some of these puffers at local pet store. There colour is milkey white and they have barley any green on them. Is this alright, are they healthy? (They are very active)

Thanks for your help

You could fit one in a 40gal but definitely not two. I think they're more social with us when they're alone as well. There aren't any plants that would do well in the high brackish conditions that GSPs require. Many people go full marine with them and if you do I believe you could look into some macroalgaes.

Can you get some pictures of the ones at the store?
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

I'd do 50% weekly water changes with just one in there.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I agree--at it's 6" adult size or until you got it in SW, with live rock & a skimmer.

A couple quick questions,
Would I be able to keep a few bumble bee gobys with the puffer?

+1 to PPs comments on the BBGs - plus they do not like full SW. They are better with F-8s in very light BW.
