Thanks to all, and thank you Lisa. Yeah I get a bit emotional over my puffers, they truly are like part of my family. I will miss Babs, I buried her this morning even though it was throwing down rain and I was out in my pajamas. It needed to be done, I could not put it off anymore.

Thank you Andrew for your kindness, now I'm going to be wondering what it is that is coming!

I'm really glad to hear your fahaka went to a good home! You did the right thing by him. I really wish you'd hold off on buying anymore fish for now. Concentrate on the ones you have & getting your mbu the bigger tank he needs.

I know and you're right PP. The miurus was something I could not pass-by because he looked so much like Orangetta, only a fraction of the size. They also happen to be one of my favourite puffers, so that makes it difficult in terms of not getting more.

We must at least think similarly PufferPunk because I have been thinking since yesterday that I have a lovely collection of puffers, and that I have decided not to bother with any other puffers and try to become a better puffer-keeper to the ones I have. I will be honest though ..... if I came across a Fang's puffer, I would definitely have to have it. I've wanted that one for so long, and it might never happen, but if I was to have access to one, I'd most likely have it.

Anyway, BeeBoo is my main concern now, getting him into a bigger tank.

My bf and I have been doing the same, not focusing on what new fish we can buy, but focusing on our tanks and making them the best they can be. No more moving fishies missy! lol It should be interesting when you move BeeBoo to a larger tank though, such a massive puffer!!

You're absolutely right Lisa about moving puffers. I think I underestimated it's effect on some of them. Now maybe moving Babs didn't kill her, but she did stop eating after the move, and I do believe fish get depressed. The tank upstairs didn't have any people going by or anything happening around it, and I think it's very possible that my Baileyi got depressed from being taken up there. Who knows.

But no more moving puffers -- until it's BeeB's time and that's going to be one of those days where I will wear as little as possible so it won't matter when I get soaked.

I wouldn't anthropomorphize overly much here. Moves are definitely stressful, though. Transferring a fish to a new tank can be physically and mentally (NOT emotionally) traumatic. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the move was what did it.

That's what I'm doing too now. We've got our final number of fish, now it's time to concentrate on helping them live long and healthy lives. I think that if a nice male salivator popped up around here then I'd go for it but I know that won't happen anyways

Hey, the first step is admitting it!! hehe
We should make a Puffers Annoymous thread .. we can have all of our addicts post there when we see a puffer we want, and we know we just shouldn't buy it.
Every puffer addict can post there, and get the support they need!!

I, too, am v. sorry to hear about the loss of your Baileyi, PPG. I can emphathize all too well because I lost my Baileyi to ich last week. Folks were very kind w all their suggestions in the hospital forum, but despite our good intentions s*** happens. I, too, got very emotional over the loss and realized that it doesn't matter whether your pet is a fish or a dog or a bird, or whatever. We become emotionally attached to the creatures we share our lives with, and when they pass we're in mourning. I agree that you should give yourself time before getting another puffer. Take stock and enjoy the fish you have and keep remembering Babs and all the pleasure she gave you. That's the best tribute you can offer her. And btw -- my guy was going bald too. I've read that the baileyis are v. hairy when they are little, and they lose it as they grow bigger.
