I'm sure that the vegan sects are indeed small, but there are many vegetarian Buddhists, and those that do eat meat do so HIGHLY conscientiously.J-P wrote:Can't comment on the Hindu religion but Buddhists will eat meat. And I mean VERY small.LilGreenPuffer wrote:Actually, most Hindus are vegetarians, and it's one of the three largest religions in that continent. It's a spiritual and ethical choice for them. Buddhists comprise another one of the major religions, and they are primarily vegetarian for the same reasons.

Those are not meat, when something has been processed that much..how can we think of it as meat..xrayjeeper83 wrote:I dont think its the meat itself, more how its processed and what it is in.
If we cut back on MCd, burger king, etc that would change how americans were
The only think close to meat in those places is "sometimes" the chicken sandwiches.
BTW, I used to work at M*&^%$#@!...
Do you know what 100% beef means? It means 100% of the cow...meaning..we use everything...meaning that animal that was just covered in feces, and not washed off very well....yep your burger may have his this or that..or perhaps several cows may be inside your burger..
And do not get me started on the chicken bones in chicken nuggets.
Re: whatcha eatin
All of our meat will be tainted with feces. It's just the way it is. If it's done at a private butcher then it's much less likely to, but if you're buying it anywhere else
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

The difference with feces in meat is whether it came from a factory farm that adds pink sludge to ground beef or not.

FAIR WARNING. THIS IS GROSS. IT MIGHT MAKE YOU NEVER EAT ANOTHER FAST-FOOD BURGER.
And you'll be better off for it, too.
Pink sludge is what gets scraped off the floor in meat-processing plants. It's blood, organs, fat, skin, intestines, urine, excrement, bits of bone and cartilage, etc. It's ground up finely, treated with ammonia, dyed pink, and added to the rest of the ground beef. That's how they can make beef cheaper - it stretches farther when they add extra junk.

Re: whatcha eatin
fecal matter in any meat product is inevitable. As soon as they gut the beast there is a chance that they will hit an intestine. The question is, how do they handle the process to limit the exposure, and yes, intestine actually tastes good!

Where on earth did you learn that?? I work with a few factory butchers and rest assured, that is not the norm. AFAIK, adding dyes to meat is illegal here in Canada... don't know about down south. I still think it is an isolated instance.LilGreenPuffer wrote:FAIR WARNING. THIS IS GROSS. IT MIGHT MAKE YOU NEVER EAT ANOTHER FAST-FOOD BURGER.

Re: whatcha eatin
LOL, that is just a new version of this urban legend...Read all of it, especially about the grading...
http://www.snopes.com/food/prepare/badmeat.asp
Now read an article that talks about pink slime or pink sludge
http://www.organicconsumers.org/article ... _19947.cfm
If notice, there is quite some biased writing going on there...especially concerning President Busch...and the organic "movement"
MYTH
Not to say, that in general meat production is non-gross with out this MYTH...
But come on!
Scraping the meat off the floor! No inspector would pass it, most employees would not do it..
This is almost as funny as imagining Dadof4 naked on a couch, with spider legs on him, and neighbors watching him..
No offense LIlGreen!!!!

That, and the chemical soup we all live in. Think estrogen-dominance...However, I cannot say that I agree with Flutter's assertion that meat is the cause of our (America/Canada/mostly Caucasian) health problems. She makes some valid points, however, what she states is only one part of the puzzle...which is probably more about problems with portion control (We are such piggies)
I would be more inclined to believe that carbs are a leading cause of poor health (but then again Asian people eat a lot of rice, and they stay relatively thin)
It is probably more about our lifestyles than anything else..

Re: whatcha eatin
I used to work as a meat cutter in my teens. When we made hamburger meat, if the price of beef was up, I would be told to grind in frozen beefheart to add color....YUMMY
Intestines are good, alot of great tasting sausage is still made with it...better than the food grade lubricant they use for most sausage casings now a days. Deer sausage is the cat's pajamas!
An adult human normally has 32 teeth – 16 in each jaw. The upper jaw has on each side two incisors, one canine, two premolars and, at the back, three molars. The same is true of the lower jaw. I try and base my diet off of the types of teeth we have, so lots of veggies, and grains, with meat being a small but significant part of a healthy diet. In Traditional Chinese medicine they teach this as being a balanced diet, makes sense to me.
I made Red curry soup with Kokonut cream, bok-choy, snap peas, carrots, and tofu. Eating it's kinda like trying to make out with the sun!
Tonight Bacon and Tomatoe sandwich's
