When they cook it, the heat takes the nutrients away...go ahead and feed him what you have got, just next time you go to the store buy the uncooked...

Puffy is a cute name!

Snail breeding may be a bit difficult, If you feed crab legs and mussels( with their shells on) that should keep the teeth down. I have some GSPs that do not eat snails, and mussels keep the teeth down. Wamart sales a big mag for $3.50 (in the frozen section)

Here is an old movie of some of mine eating mussels

2 in the video died.

the really round one I still have, he was my first ever puffer...and he is the size of a golf ball. The other one that lived with really tiny spots is a slow grower and he is still about the same size.

I have one more slow grower, and another golf ball sized on and 2 bigger ones,

This one is my favorite..

Actually if you look at all the reflections of "Puffy" in his picture his fins look very good.

hermionejanepotter12, Breeding snails is easy and if you need some starter snails to breed I have a ton of ramshorns and I could send you enough to get started as well as feed "Puffy" a few times. I also have an extra sponge filter for your 3 gallon tank.

Here is my thread about my snails, and how some others breed them. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=24240

Here is the forum snail breeder link. library/feeding/basic-snail-breeding/

That tank would be fine to breed snails, you won't even need a heater. By the way, does Puffy have a heater?

I wouldn't worry about breeding snails for him. Just be sure to feed him things like people shrimp tails, krill, freeze-dried plankton & other things mentioned in this feeding article:
library/feeding/feeding-your-puffers/

Great job setting up the 10g for him! By the time he outgrows that tank (at 2 inches), you'll have your mom talked into a 30g for him. ;)
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

If you do keep all 3 fish, you're going to have to go a lot bigger than 30g. Start working on getting your mom to let you bring back the other 2 fish. You will soon have to start adding marine salt to Puffy's tank & that will kill the other 2 fish.
