One of the worst things about moving is having to replace items that you know you have and cannot locate. I have never moved without having to buy a new drill. And I have never learned to keep a selected tool bag out of the general packing either. For me, a serious MTS sufferer, the fish are an entirely separate move, so a bit easier to handle than you might think.

Haha, yes. That is so true! This time its the test kit, ice cube trays & measuring cups! Not quite as expensive as a drill, and probably less annoying. I hope you don't move as much as we do...that would a be a LOT of money spent on drills...

We are also sufferers of MTS, and the fish were also a separate move...actually multiple moves. I think it took 4 trips with 2 cars going each time. I'm SO glad it's done!

I have moved three times since I've been married (40 + years). The last two have involved the owner (unpaid) of the LFS, the store van, and some of their staff (paid). With a little pre-planning (including DIY rack building and aging water), it took less than a full day. Losses = zero. A lot of work, but not really bad.

gotta love a flawless move regardless of the expenses. especially something of that size RTR. do you have an approx of how many gallons and how many tanks?

That is quite impressive! Last time we moved a bunch of our livebearers died, this time we did something right b/c everything is still alive. Woo hoo!

No big tanks were operating at the times of my last two moves, so the biggies (>100 gal. tanks) could be set at the new location for extra aged water or pre-mixed SW/BW for use for the livestock. That is a huge help - no mixing or temp. adjusting needed. All the plug strips needed were in place on the racks & stands, all fresh styro in place - these moves were engineered with as much scut work done in advance as possible. Lots of borrowed styro boxes ready with jumbo bags in them and buckets full of individual small and medium bags, sticky labels taped to the old tanks for the fish boxes and bags. Tracking the fish and tanks and thus re-assembling them was pretty easy.

The circulating range was BW at the time of the move, and that was ~300 gallons. SW tanks (all individual, but most w/sumps about 200 gal, total, FW no more than 100 gallons at that time.

The earlier move was smaller, 3-400 gallons total.mostly FW and light BW, only one SW.

That last move was only ~ 4 miles, so travel time was trivial (from the valley to the ridge).

I do not plan to move again, unless it is feet-first out of here. That can always change, but I do hope not.
