A puffer puffing

Post by sezzy5889 »

This fella puffs up at exactly the same time everyday, when he wakes up from a days snoozing ready for lunch time :)

Hes a arothron meleagris, he spends most the day behind the rocks, and at about 6pm give or take a few minutes he comes out and puffs up, almost like hes stretching, and then begins to dance to try and get my attention for food

That is one awesome puffer! He's huge. :D

I think it's funny, puff yourself up, do a little dance, get down tonight, get down tonight -- and then of course some food would be good! (think of that to KC & the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight") -- works for me!

He's about 8inches in length but almost the size of a football when inflated :D

I have a smaller dog-face in with him, and the other fish is a rabbit fish, my stars and stripes is in my main tank as hes too big to be in with this guy (bigger tank in order me thinks  again!)

The rabbit fish is his best friend, they are joined at the hip and never leave eachothers size, they totally respect eachother at feeding time, and the rabbit fish even kisses the puffer and they lie on top of eachother at the bottom of the tank after feeding when they have a rest, its just an amazing sight, me and my partner have not a clue why they have bonded like that, its just the strangest sight!

I've got a guppy fry that somehow made it into this tank, and it has taken a Bumblebee goby as it's partner. They swim everywhere together and the male guppy clearly thinks the goby is a female, because he's always nudging her. It's funny to watch them swim together. Before my salivator puffer died, he and my Mbu were very good mates. They had been together from the start, so I do believe that some fish/puffers make friendships with other fish, crabs, whatever. :D

Everybody wants to be loved!
