If your new at corals and enverts then you could do a softy, zoa, and easy LPS tank. Thats if you have upgraded lighting. Its very interesting and with out the puffers you will start to see much more life when it comes to pods, worms, snails, and crabs/shrimp. I used a flashlight on my tank last night and found out i have a huge 6" long grey bristleworm in one of my rocks. He had to have grown that big in my tank since i havnt added anything that large for him to hide in and he was never visible when I had my GSP in the tank. I seriously find new stuff in my tank almost everday and its soo neet.

I know you said inverts, and I think that is really cool...

But if I had the tank and live rock and what not..and did not want a puffer...I would love to have a mandarin goby, provided you have enough live rock to feed it.

It's not just a matter of LR for a Mandarin. They eat their weight in live pods daily. You need an established tank (at least 6-12 months) with a refugium for breeding pods.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

As you learned, GSPs are particularly aggressive - can't keep anything with them, IME!

DSBs are not time bombs if planned for properly. My 5-6" DSB is several years old, and it literally 'crawls' it's so alive with worms and pods. Coupled with strong water motion, quality live rock (I use Florida Live Rock, with their airline shipping it's only out of the ocean ~8 hours before it's in my tank!), skimming, ozone use, and regular water changes, my nutrients are so low (even with 3 puffers and 2 zebra morays) that I don't even have to clean the glass.

There is nothing at all wrong with a tank of Inverts with live rock (ILR? IWLR?), comparable to FOLR/FOWLR. Personally, my Invert tanks have been among the most interesting tanks to me.

But be cautious out the comparability of the types you select. That can be every bit as tricky as fish (vertebrate) selections. Please do not accept the say-so of the LFS employees - check via references and the web before buying..

Yea RTR i am in the planning stage as we speak but since you have so much personal experience what inverts would you suggest i go with in a 36g bow front that they can live in LONG term..... and as well i want to try to have 1 fish in the entire tank what fish would you suggest i was thinking of a Wrasse of some sort i know they are jumper i have a mesh lid in line already. or will a wrasse eat Inverts??

i plan on having one VERY colorful fish as eye catcher but i have no clue as to what fish to get for that all ideas will be appreciated.

tank size 36g
