It seems like you were given alot of bad info just like tons of others. Fish shops are all about trying to make a buck so you have to becareful not to beleive all of their suggestions since most only want to get stuff sold, and hey if they dont tell yah about cycleing or proper care requirements then you have to come back for more fish or more supplies. Please take a little bit of your time and read through this sites library especially the articles on cycleing and GSP care requirements. It will benifit both of you in the end. By learning as much as you can in this hobby will help you become a more succesfull fish keeper and it will save you tons of money from the greedy hands of fish stores.

puffer fish are very special fish that have very special needs to be healthy and happy
they must have lots of room in a big tank and clean water at all times
this means that he has to have a bigger tank, right away
and some of his water must be replaced often to keep it clean and healthy
we change some of the water in our puffer fish tanks every week
when they are little, they might live okay with other fish, but later when they grow, it's best for them to live in their own fish tank
and they must be fed special foods to keep them healthy
what other fish live in his tank with him?

So now that you know the truth about your fish, what are your plans for them now???
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Okay hermionejanepotter12 it's decision time. Do you plan on keeping your GSP?, If so do you have the financial means to spend $100+ today?

Then you must do the next best thing for him.

Exactly. It's time to find him a good home. In it's current situation your fish will die soon.

That 5g isn't even large enough for his tank mate.

If you let us know what state and city you live in maybe we can help you find another site to look for someone that can help you out. Also craigslist usually has tanks suitable for him for really cheap.

Yes. In other words give him up. The 5 gallon tank isn't suitable for the Albino pleco. The powder blue cichlid. Or the puffer. The cichlid needs a 50G minimum. The puffer has a 30g minimum and the pleco I don't know. But even the smallest of plecos need a 30 gallon. Unfortunately. Unless you can provide a tank for the puffer and the other tankmates. The best thing to do would be to give the puffer and whatever other ones you cant provide for up. And ensure they go to a proper home. You have some very large fish on your hands. And that is going to require a large tank.
