Lil Lisas photos and update on health

well , after reviewing some logs on her eating and her growth over time, and getting some file photos for the latest batch of data i have, i thought you guys and gals might wanna see the lil girl.

for those of you who do not know the story. Lisa was a rescue. a dyed porc puffer who was kept in a 20l then 40 breeder for a bit. she is stunted, and probably will not get too over 10 " if that.

good news, she is and has been eating quite well, however, i fear she may have intestinal issues considering how fast she is supposedly digesting the food, she goes from super fat, to super skinny in under 48 hours. IP meds are a possibility, however she was dosed while in q/t twice due to this same issue.

tank temp is 79 for now, she wasnt tolerating the cooler temps that i was using to slow her metabolism as well as id hoped. but as she gets bigger she will go back down to 74 degrees slowly.

she enjoys playing chase the camera lens and is rather hard to photograph.

good news is that she is now eatign her body weight in food every week or less which is a very good sign. she has grown aproximatly 1/2 inch in around 4 months. that is about 1/4 the normal growth rate for these guys at this size. all of mine shot to 5-6 inches in 2 months or less from 2 -3 inches. so shes definatly stunted.

Ill keep updating on this thread and for those with more technical knowledge if there is a want i will try to get my notes in to a legible format so you can read it.

Yes, Jager, please keep posting updates. She's lucky you found & rescued her. What an appalling practice this fish dyeing & how arrogant that anyone would think they could improve upon natural coloration.

For others, a list of dyed fish can be found at: http://www.deathbydyeing.org/colormedead.htm

Are these fish being sold in our area, Jager? Can we list the offenders? I'd like to go in, speak to the manager about buying his most expensive tank & decide against it, citing that I can't in conscience support a business that sells dyed fish. Would that message be sufficiently blatant ? If the LFS believes he's losing sales, maybe this practice can be stopped.

well lisa was a trade in to our store with a snowflake moray eel. i wanna say she was traded for two triggers, but i dont remember exactly. regardless i have not seen any of the dyed fish in our area cept the painted tetras, dont get me started on the wrongs of buying them, its not worth the thread space.

i took her home after two moneths of her being at my store. i was hoping someone would take her, but sadyl no one was interested, so i got her for 15 bucks.

shes eaten me out of probably that in food in a month, but shes happy, so ill keep kicking out the cash :P

i dont know how long she will live, but at least she will be fat and happy.

CSF the one store that i know has carried dyed fish, wouldnt give a %^@#%$^&#%^&%$^&$%^& what you did, they are really not the best people to deal with. their shoddy business practices and inflated prices on common supplies to cover their dicounted tanks is taking them under as it is. they dont care abuot the customer.
