Fahaka puffer agression
Could a fahaka puffer bite a person's finger off if they bit them during a water change?

i have a GSP and when i feed him clams sometimes he bites the shell and the other day he took a little piece off the shell of a clam! so i would say yes that if my GSP has the power in his bite to take off a piece of clam shell, a fahaka could very easily take off a finger tip or possibly more

while a Fahaka has good bite strength and sharp teeth....their teeth tend to be pointy and fang-like (even when short).
I have no doubt that they could inflict a serious bite....i dont think they could go thru bone tho
my guy, Snag is around 9"...he bites thru Giant Colombian ramshorn snails like butter
a friend of mine has a Ceylon puffer....I saw it literally crush a large MTS snail...but its teeth are flat...like the jaws of pliers

I dont think they would take one completely off, but you would be going to the ER to have it worked on

I agree that they probably could not take off a whole finger..
But, If your into that sort of thing and just have no use for your finger..tick off a MBU.

A huge, nasty, unfriendly fahaka was the only fish of his RTR has mentioned fearing and hating.
Personally, while I don't think a fahaka could get through the bone like a large Mbu or marine puffer could, I have no doubt the fast chomping motion of a hungry beast would find a joint between finger bones VERY quickly.

Yup - I am cautious about all large fish, but only that one big insane devil fFahaka seriously intimidated me. i am not a bit embarrassed to admit that I was afraid of that beast.
My worst biters were the breeding pair of ephippium clowns though - I wore chain-mail gloves under dry box gloves when I had to have hands in their tank - their teeth were small, but oh so sharp. that would not with a Fahaka though - it would be like having your hand caught in a slamming door - the crushing injury would be about as bad as the bite.
