Someone knows a new Fahaka is on the way!

Post by J-P »

I spent the majority of the day prepping the tank for the new Fahaka and of course the cats are there.

I am re-arranging the 55 up top for the SAPs and taking out a lot of the structure so the Fahaka can have more room to swim. Took out a tonne of plants and moved (and removed) some rocks.

I think I may have to take out 1 of the larger pieces of driftwood in the 210.

I am not sure what to do about my lilies.... I have moved my largest one to the new SAP tank but not certain if the Fahaka will attack the others.

Hey JP are those glass shelves on the new sap tank? I can't clearly tell in the photo? Also, any issues with your saps surfing the glass often? If so, what have U done to try and deter them from doing so?

Sell them to J-P :ROFL2:

Anytime I turn on the lights, walk in the room etc.. they freak out and surf the glass.

The "shelves" are for support and water circulation. It is just one section of a multi tank system.

I have not had any luck to "deter" them from glass surfing. I know they like the dark better and go exploring then. Day light is a totally different story.. even if I look into the tank (regardless of how large) they freak out.

U know...if I could, I would return the little guys from the stream from whence they came. Makes me kinda sad when I see them surfing the glass, they don't do it all the tyme, but too often for my liking

yep... These are Flutter's old SAPs .. she couldn't take it anymore so I got them :)

So .. I was comparing my tank to Pufferpunk's tank with filbert in it.. PP has A LOT of structure in there and some sharp (or it appears so) rocks.

I was wondering if they like a reasonably complex environment or something more simple with lots of swimming space?

Oh, neat, never seen that.
I have a spare 55G, that I am in the process of resealing. I may paint the sides and back black and try housing them in there when its ready. Any amount of plants, driftwood, stone e.t.c. that I put up against the glass doesn't seem to deter them ;(

I feel the same way. It's sad. They don't belong in captivity IMO. Just can't settle in. I imagine it can be done but I couldn't house them properly.

We tried covering the sides and it didn't stop them. They either continued or found somewhere else.

I know I have to get the thermometer out of there and I'm thinking of getting the glass heater out of there also and switching it with my stealth.. possibly getting that large drift wood out in the back half and switching it with something smaller...
