Hence, the word, "steady". The pH of your tap can change at any time. If your fish are in totally SW, than regular sand is fine.

the aragite that is at my LFS is coral based, is this the right stuff?

Got another GSP last night, so soon i will start changing the substrate and adjusting the water.
dont wanna start a new topic, so ill just ask here: what kind of light should i be using? my tank didnt have a hood (it was an old tank of my dads) so i just have a shop light now, but im not sure if a regular floresent bulb is ok, or if i should get an aquarium one.

Any light is good, and a regular flourescent is just as good as any other, unless you want to grow live plants, but as your tank is going to be brackish, I'm guessing, you won't need live plants. So you will be fine with the light you have.
