Which do I upgrade first?

Hello, I have had a figure 8 puffer in a 10 gallon for a little less then a year and 2 comet goldfish in a 10 gallon for about 2 months now. I have a spare 55 gallon tank that can house either*I have no heater or hood yet.* Which should I upgrade first? The comets or the puff? Also, if possible. Explain why I should upgrade that particular fish. Thanks

The comets where free. The figure 8 didnt cost much at all. Not talking cost, im talking stunting-risks. Still think I should get the rest of the accessories over time and put the f8 ?

If I do upgrade the Figure 8 to the 55g. Can the comets live in a large Tote?

I don't see why not. Set it up as you would a tank. Just make sure that it is a food grade bin.

I kinda still want to move the comets.. I dunno!

well if the f8 has been in a 10g for over a year, he probably is already stunted

Am I correct in understanding that you don't have a heater for your 55-gallon tank? You can't put your Figure-8 puffer in a tank without a heater, they are tropical fish. However, Comets are coldwater fish, so they don't require a heater in their tank.

Stunted or not, I'd get that F8 into a bigger tank ASAP because a 15-gallon is the minimum suggested, that't not to say that a bigger tank wouldn't be better.

I dont have anything for the 55g Yet. Only way I could put the comets in it is if I transferred there filter and gravel over. I will put the f8 in here. Yes I do understand he needs a heater.

You could transfer everything for the F8 from the 10 to the 55g and use the heater off the ten. Your ambient temps should be keeping that water in the low to mid 70's during the day and the heater should kick in at night.

Nope. I dont even ahve a filter for the 55g unless I transferred the comets filter

Only thing is. I wanted to use sand for the new tank and the f8 has gravel

The Petsmarts near me have had 250-300w Rena and Theo heaters on clearance for around $12. If you have any stores near you check them all. If not you probably have a month or two to get a proper heater. And don't forget to check Craigslist.
