Brown Algae
How long will my brown algae bloom last? Its in my 55g salt water tank that has just finished cycling. I know it does go away because i had a bllom in my 45g salt water tank in the beginning just can't remember how long it lasts before its gone.

It depends on how long it takes for your tank to settle. Diatoms can last anywhere from a few days, weeks, to even a few months in extreme cases. More then likely no more then a few weeks at most though. Keeping your lights on a lower time cycle will help out dureing this period aswell.

If I have my tank light on a lot I get brown algae but if they're not on a lot then the brown stuff goes away.

That sounds very bad.. and like my algae.. I hope it's not Dinoflagellaten.
I should suck somethuing out of the tank, put it in a cup or something and if it after 5 min smels.. its are dino's.. ( and than you need chemicals

Is it all over everything or just on the glass. I clean my glass of it daily. Most SW keepers keep a Magfloat in the back corner of their tanks for this reason.

I do have a magneflot cleaner in there, its on some of the rocks and the glass, but it looks like its goin away slowly

mexican turbo snails eat that stuff like crazy, also try astrea snails.
Run some GFO or phosphate absorbing media, that will help it from coming back.

All is going great now, I do have some turbo snails in ther 55g and in my 70 AC I have some cheato (spelling not sure lol) Its now fully cycled and looking good. I added a few corals from our local frag fest in town and I can't wait till they all get bigger
